Being a kid is AWESOME

The pictures say it all.....

Another street party out front of our house. Beautiful fall days with a backdrop of falling leaves; I'm in love.

The kids were in love too....can you tell?

seconds later her face actually exploded.

cheeks.
What a little ham!
My muse was in fine form and was her usual rambunctious self. For evidence, see below; all this transpired in mere seconds. As I said, being a kid is awesome. Unbridled excitement is a beautiful thing.

Blast From the Past - Today's Muse, Mr E

A quick update: My 365 project IS still under way.  I have taken at least one picture a day for the last 3 weeks. (Insert ‘pat on the back’ here). It’s been great; I now look for pictures wherever I go, and it’s really great to be so inspired by small daily moments. The challenging part is that I have SO MANY pictures; pictures that I barely have time to look at, let alone edit. And some days, the pictures I take are ‘menh,’ which is why I don’t post them.  I didn’t say I was going to post a picture a day, did I?

Thank you to all of you for you support, your sweet comments and helpful critiques. It means so much; you have all kept me inspired and motivated.

As your reward, I have a few ‘new’ pics for you! I did this session for Mr E a few months ago and then never really published it – he’s now a sweet 15 month old with the chubbiest little cheeks, and  the BEST belly laughs ever.  Actually, that’s what he was like when we met up a few months ago! Enjoy.

What did I tell you about those cheeks?!

Love the mom love happening in this pic

Trashing the house

One of the great things about this 365 project is that it forces me to try new and exciting things. Otherwise, it gets boring taking a picture of the same thing, day after day. I have been experimenting with my camera a lot over the past few days – playing around with my external flash, trying new things in Photoshop, trying new perspectives, trying new set ups and shooting in ways that I wouldn’t normally think to try.

A blog post on shooting with a long exposure time got me thinking; what would happen if I tried shooting with a longer exposure time?

Here is what I captured….my muse caught in the act, trashing her room!  I love how her ghosted shadow gives a glimpse into her whirlwind personality, and a glimpse into her finesse for destruction.

Today's Muse: Miss K - The Full Suite

Little K's mom contacted me to do some pictures for her upcoming baptism. Babies in flouncy white dresses are the cutest, and I almost ate her whole at one point. The only thing that stopped me was that she was trying to beat me to the job. She spent half of the time nibbling her toes, and can you even blame her?
Once we had the Baptism shots in the bag, we realized that we wanted.....nay....NEEDED to kick it up a notch.
Baby in cute white baptism dress? Adorable. But let's push the envelope. What is even cuter?!? Baby in tiny tutu and pearls! I think we found a winner, what do you think?
oh, this old thing? just a couple of old rags that I had lying around the house
FACT: A Diva's diet is about 90% pearls
She has her sights set on higher things.....
do we need to have diamonds at our next shoot?
hmmmm I really do think that pearls are slimming
Finally, we got around to taking the penultimate cute baby photo. Naked baby. That's right, we went there!

We also tried something different and played around with taking some pictures underneath a bed sheet. Not only did she love it, but I love the look of these pictures! Was really fun to do something new.
Who doesn't love a naked bebe?!
I love this little moment here, especially because I loved blanket forts as a kid

up to no good!
All drama, and already knows how to hit her light. Kid's got talent.
Do you know the password to get into the fort? Also, we're charging a $20 cover charge.
